Bluegrass: Nashville's Superpickers (NaxosWorld 76034-2) is a studio compilation from Naxos World presenting a roster of Nashville-based acoustic session players in a program of traditional and contemporary bluegrass material, drawing on the remarkable concentration of acoustic instrumental talent in the Nashville music community during the period of the recording. Jason Carter plays fiddle; Mike Compton plays mandolin; Rob Ickes plays dobro; Mike Bub holds the bass; Terry Eldredge plays guitar and sings; and David Talbot contributes additional work. Carter, Compton, Ickes, Bub, and Eldredge all built their reputations through work with major bluegrass ensembles and as Nashville session players, and their assembly on this NaxosWorld release presents the technical standards of the contemporary acoustic Nashville scene in a program designed to introduce the tradition to listeners encountering it for the first time.
