Cherryholmes III: Don’t Believe was released by Skaggs Family Records on 30 September 2008 (6989020202). It is the third Skaggs Family album by Cherryholmes, the family band from Los Angeles, after Cherryholmes (2005) and Cherryholmes II: Black and White (2007). Ben Isaacs produced it, and it was recorded at Skaggs Place Studio.
The band on the record is Cia Cherryholmes on banjo, Sandy Cherryholmes on mandolin, B.J. Cherryholmes on mandolin and fiddle, Skip Cherryholmes on guitar, Jere Cherryholmes on bass and Molly Cherryholmes on fiddle, with Rob Ickes adding Dobro on several tracks and Jeff Taylor on accordion and whistle. The family wrote most of the thirteen songs: Cia is credited with the lead vocal and writing on several, including “I Can Only Love You So Much” and “This Is My Son,” B.J. wrote “Bleeding” and the instrumental “Sumatra,” and Molly wrote and sings “Goodbye.” “Devil in Disguise,” sung by B.J., is by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman.
The album was one of five nominees for Best Bluegrass Album at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards; the award went to Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. A fourth Cherryholmes album, Common Threads, followed in 2010, and the band announced in January 2011 that it would disband.
