Child of the King cover

Child of the King, recorded March 31, 1983 at Maggard Studios in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and released by Rebel Records (SLP 1619), is one of Ralph Stanley's gospel albums from the Charlie Sizemore / Junior Blankenship era of the Clinch Mountain Boys. The program includes the a cappella I'm Willing to Try alongside band material drawn from the Old Baptist sacred repertoire Ralph had been working with for decades. The track When I Bid You All Adieu was written by his wife Jimmie Stanley; If I Could Crown You Mother was adapted by Franklin Viers, an Old Baptist preacher from Dickenson County. The album has never been reissued on CD, making the vinyl release the only working source for these performances.
