Del McCoury is a 1975 album by Del McCoury and the Dixie Pals released on Revonah Records (R-916). Note: the catalog lists Rebel SLP-1542, but the tracks correspond to Revonah R-916; Rebel SLP-1542 is a separate McCoury album from the same year with different content. McCoury (guitar, lead vocals) leads a traditional bluegrass band in an early document of his high, lonesome tenor before the family band that would define his later career took shape. The eight-track set—backed by Bill Runkle (banjo), Bill Poffinberger (fiddle), Donnie Eldreth (mandolin), and Dewey Renfro (bass)—blends originals with country covers and old-time chestnuts, including a shuffling "Walkin' the Dog" and the crowd favorite "Are You Teasing Me," exemplifying the straight-ahead traditional stance McCoury has held throughout his career.
