Don’t Say Aloha cover

"Don't Say Aloha," released on Rounder Records (Rounder 0080), is a late-career showcase for Beecher Ray Kirby — better known as Bashful Brother Oswald — the Grand Ole Opry's most celebrated dobro player for nearly four decades. Backed by guitarist Charlie Collins (a longtime Roy Acuff band member), pianist Buck White, and bassist Joe Zinkan, Oswald runs through the hillbilly standards and Hawaiian-inflected material at the heart of his Opry stage persona. He had defined the role of resonator guitar in traditional country music as a fixture of Acuff's Smoky Mountain Boys since 1939, and the album is among the most complete documents of his playing style outside the Acuff recordings. Recording dates to approximately 1974; the LP was pressed by Rounder circa 1975–1978.
