Fiddler's Dream, released in 2016 on Compass (7 4674-2), is Michael Cleveland's all-star instrumental-heavy set, featuring Sam Bush on mandolin, Vince Gill on vocals, Jerry Douglas on Dobro, Andy Statman on mandolin, Barry Bales on bass, Paul Franklin on steel, Jeff White on guitar and co-production, and Lloyd Douglas on banjo. The repertoire ranges from hard bluegrass to swing and country, showcasing Cleveland's wide stylistic range within fiddle music. The record was released alongside Cleveland's tenth IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year win and was dedicated to his early mentor Lloyd Douglas, the Kentucky banjo player and fiddle teacher who first taught Cleveland tunes as a child — a tribute structure that bookends mentorship within the album's all-star session ethos.
