“Flatt Lonesome” is the self-titled debut album of the Callahan, Florida, band, released on 29 January 2013 on Pisgah Ridge Records (PR 1440-2), a division of Mountain Home Records. The band is built around three siblings, Kelsi Robertson Harrigill on mandolin, Charli Robertson on fiddle and Buddy Robertson on guitar, with Dominic Illingworth on bass, Paul Harrigill on banjo and Michael Stockton on resonator guitar. The Robertsons had come out of their family’s bluegrass gospel band, Sandy Creek Revival. At the SPBGMA International Band Championship the group finished third in 2011 and first in 2012.
It was recorded at Crossroads Studios in Arden, North Carolina. The lead vocals are shared among the siblings: Kelsi sings Hazel Dickens’s “You’ll Get No More of Me,” which opens the album; Charli sings Julie Miller’s “Does My Ring Burn Your Finger”; and Buddy sings Marty Stuart and Paul Kennerley’s “Draggin’ My Heart Around” and Leiber and Wheeler’s “Jackson.” Kelsi also leads “I’m Blue,” which Deep Roots magazine called a Top 10 single.
