“You’ll Get No More of Me” was written by Hazel Dickens, who recorded it on 23 January 1986 at Nashville Sound Connection in Nashville for her Rounder album It’s Hard to Tell the Singer from the Song (Rounder 0226), which she produced. On the track she is joined by Tommy Goldsmith on guitar, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Blaine Sprouse on fiddle and Roy Huskey Jr. on bass, with harmony vocals by Cheryl White Warren, Glen Duncan, Kathy Chiavola and Pat Enright. It runs 2:35.
The lyric is addressed to a lover who has already taken nearly everything and wants whatever is left, the last of her pride and every last tear. She tells him he has never found the way into her heart and cannot see it, and that he will get no more of her. He has wrecked her heart like a winter storm, she says, and she will take it back, let her tears dry, and cry no more over him.
The song has been recorded again by the Lynn Morris Band, on their 1990 Rounder album The Lynn Morris Band, where it is the second track, and by Flatt Lonesome, who opened their 2013 album Flatt Lonesome (Pisgah Ridge) with it, with Kelsi Harrigill singing lead.
