From Liberty Street (Yep Roc Records, 2020) is the debut album from Mapache, the California country-folk duo of Clay Finch and Sam Blasucci — Glendale natives and high school friends who reconnected after Blasucci spent two years in Mexico. Released March 20, 2020, and produced by Dan Horne, the album is named for the Los Angeles house where it was recorded. Finch and Blasucci's warm close harmonies over acoustic guitar arrangements blend West Coast folk, country, Latin, and soft-rock influences; though not a strict bluegrass record, their acoustic chops and Americana sensibility earned appearances at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and Pickathon. Reviewers praised its sun-soaked intimacy and the duo's instinctive songwriting chemistry, establishing Mapache as distinctive voices in the contemporary California acoustic scene.
