Get Religion, released in 1962 on Starday (SLP 152), is a sacred bluegrass album by Carl Story and His Rambling Mountaineers, recorded November 1960 at WCRS in Greenwood, South Carolina — one month before the sessions that produced Everybody Will Be Happy (SLP 137). The same quartet — Story on vocals and guitar, Bud Brewster on banjo, Willie Brewster on mandolin, Claude Boone on bass — cut both LPs back-to-back during Story's deepest Starday gospel period. The twelve hymn-derived tracks include "Why Don't You Haul Off and Get Religion," "Unclouded Day," "Give Me the Roses," and "Gloryland Way," delivered in unadorned bluegrass-gospel quartet style with little embellishment. Together the two albums functioned as a programmatic statement of Story's Starday identity.
