Hampton Comes Alive (Elektra 62495, 1999) is Phish's first official release of complete concerts in their entirety — a six-CD live box set documenting back-to-back performances at Hampton Coliseum, Virginia, recorded November 20–21, 1998. Trey Anastasio (guitar, vocals), Page McConnell (keyboards, vocals), Mike Gordon (bass, vocals), and Jon Fishman (drums, vocals) are captured at the height of their late-1990s creative peak. The album went gold within two months, earned a Grammy nomination for packaging design, and introduced ten songs to Phish's official catalog — a landmark given the band's massive tape-trading culture. Anastasio's publicly stated admiration for Del McCoury and traditional bluegrass had by this point integrated acoustic string-band elements into the band's acoustic sets.
