Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 (JEMP Records JEMP 1073, 2011) is a seven-CD box capturing three complete Phish concerts from the Fall 1997 "Phish Destroys America" tour: November 21–22 at Hampton Coliseum, Virginia, and November 23 at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Trey Anastasio (guitar, vocals), Page McConnell (keyboards, vocals), Mike Gordon (bass, vocals), and Jon Fishman (drums, vocals) are documented in what critics regard as one of the band's most adventurous touring periods, characterized by extended funk-influenced improvisations. Originally recorded by engineer Paul Languedoc and mastered by Fred Kevorkian, the release added two previously unreleased soundcheck tracks from each venue. The Fall 1997 run remains a touchstone for the band's community.
