"Hang Out a Light For Me," released in 2001 on Rebel Records (REB-CD 1777), is a gospel album by Kentucky-rooted banjo player, guitarist, and traditional bluegrass vocalist Dave Evans, produced by mandolinist and singer Don Rigsby and recorded at River Track Studio in Louisa, Kentucky. The album features Rigsby alongside Ray Craft, Mike Bub (bass), Ernie Thacker, and Greg Moore. Evans — who had built his reputation through work with Earl Taylor, Larry Sparks, the Goins Brothers, Red Allen, and The Boys From Indiana before leading his own River Bend ensemble — returned to the sacred genre for the first time since his 1982 LP "A Few More Seasons," nearly two decades earlier. The record underscores his standing as one of the last purist traditional-bluegrass vocalists of his generation.
