Hold On, We’re Strummin’

Sam Bush and David Grisman

Album · 2003 · Acoustic Disc ACD-51

Hold On, We're Strummin' puts two of the instrument's strongest players across a table from one another. Sam Bush and David Grisman recorded it for Acoustic Disc in 2003.
The two had circled each other for decades - Bush out of Kentucky and the newgrass side of the music, Grisman out of New York and the jazz side - and the record is largely the sound of them trading. It opens with "Hartford's Real," a tune the two wrote together and named for John Hartford, who had died two years earlier.
