Hyden cover

Hyden, released by Pinecastle Records in 1998, is the first volume of an Osborne Brothers anthology series named after the brothers' Hyden, Kentucky birthplace — a project intended to combine new recordings of older material with archival selections tracing the band's musical history. The program features new readings of Ruby (with patriarch Robert Osborne playing a clawhammer banjo lick), Picture on the Wall, and the Roy Acuff staple Great Speckled Bird, alongside newer compositions like A Child Again and Old Friend of Mine. The album catches Bobby's tenor and Sonny's banjo at a settled late-career peak, framed by the Pinecastle-era lineup.
