I Like the Old Time Way (Old Dominion OD 498-15) is a studio album from Jim and Jesse McReynolds, the Coeburn, Virginia brothers who had built one of bluegrass's most celebrated sibling partnerships since their earliest recordings, presenting the traditional repertoire on their own Old Dominion label in the straightforward acoustic format that had always suited their ensemble identity. Jim McReynolds plays guitar and sings lead; Jesse McReynolds plays mandolin and sings; Vic Jordan plays banjo; Raymond McLain plays fiddle; Glen Duncan plays fiddle; and Junior Huskey holds the bass. The album's title announces the program's allegiance directly — an assertion of traditional values by two performers who had maintained the acoustic string band format through the commercial pressures of multiple decades in the Nashville market.
