I Wasn't Born to Rock and Roll is a 1976 album by Roland White released on Ridge Runner Records (RRR-0005), recorded in Fort Worth, Texas, with his Country Gazette bandmates. White (mandolin, vocals) is joined by Kenny Wertz (guitar, vocals), Alan Munde (banjo, guitar), Roger Bush (bass, vocals), and Dave Ferguson (fiddle)—a hard-driving traditional bluegrass unit drawing on Monroe, Flatt, and the Appalachian folk repertoire White absorbed growing up in Maine before his years with the Kentucky Colonels. Out of print for decades, it was reissued by Tompkins Square in 2020. Note: the catalog lists a Trio Records catalog number and different personnel (Roy Justice, Vance Henry); these may reflect a German pressing variant, but the confirmed original release and lineup are as above.
