I'm Using My Bible for a Roadmap (King Records KSD 1068) is a bluegrass gospel studio album from Don Reno and Bill Harrell and the Tennessee Cut-Ups, presenting the devotional repertoire in the ensemble format the Roanoke, Virginia-area acts had built through their King Records partnership, with contributions from distinguished Nashville session players. Reno plays banjo and sings; Harrell plays guitar and sings lead; Charles "Buck" Ryan plays fiddle; George Shuffler plays guitar; Vassar Clements plays fiddle; Buddy Spicher plays fiddle; and Jim Buchanan contributes additional work. Clements and Spicher — two of Nashville's most sought-after fiddle session players — give the gospel program an ensemble richness beyond what the core ensemble alone could provide, and the combination of bluegrass structure with Nashville studio musicianship represents the practical overlap between the two worlds that King Records regularly documented.
