Lessons in Stone cover

Lessons in Stone, released in 2002 on Rebel (REB-CD 1780), is the third and final album from bluegrass supergroup Longview, recorded October 9-12, 2001 at River Track Studio in Fort Gay, West Virginia. The six-person lineup pairs Dudley Connell, James King, and Don Rigsby — three of the era's strongest lead singers — trading vocals over Glen Duncan on fiddle, Joe Mullins on banjo, and Marshall Wilborn on bass. The hard-driving traditional repertoire pulls from obscure Jimmy Martin, Carl Story, and Tom T. Hall material. Coordinating six members each fronting other working bands made the sessions famously hard to schedule, and the record was Longview's only Rebel release in a discography otherwise split across Sugar Hill. The catalog date of 2005 reflects a data error.
