Little Mo' McCoury (McCoury Music 0007, 2007) is the first all-bluegrass children's album from the Del McCoury Band, with mandolinist Ronnie McCoury — "Little Mo'" — stepping forward as frontman for a program of children's standards and bluegrass classics. Ronnie McCoury plays mandolin and sings lead throughout; Del McCoury plays guitar and sings; Rob McCoury plays banjo; Jason Carter plays fiddle; and Alan Bartram holds the bass. Children's songs including "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "I've Been Working on the Railroad" receive the same vocal care and ensemble precision the Del McCoury Band brings to their adult concert material, while bluegrass standards like "Jimmy Brown the Newsboy" anchor the repertoire in the hard-bluegrass tradition the band inhabits. The album demonstrates that the McCoury ensemble's musical identity needs no adjustment to serve a younger audience.
