Spring Creek's Lonesome Way to Go, self-released in 2008 (RC 2008), is the Colorado-based bluegrass quartet's second album, produced by Sally Van Meter, who also contributes resonator guitar. Taylor Sims plays guitar and sings; Chris Elliott, banjo; with Fred Weisz and Jim Rigsby completing the ensemble—specific instruments for Weisz and Rigsby are unconfirmed in available documentation. Gabe Witcher and Noam Pikelny appear as guests. The album followed the band's landmark double victory at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and RockyGrass competitions in 2007—the first ensemble to win both in the same year—and led directly to a deal with Rebel Records, making Spring Creek the first Rebel act signed from west of the Mississippi River.
