Looking for a New Way to Go

Mike Lilly and the Country Grass

Album · 1985 · Old Homestead OHS 90127

Looking for a New Way to Go (Old Homestead OHS 90127) is a studio album from Mike Lilly and Sherril Jennings, two Kentucky-rooted traditional performers who combined their work in an acoustic ensemble presenting hard-core bluegrass material in the direct regional style that Old Homestead Records documented as part of its mission to record traditional acts working outside the commercial mainstream. Lilly plays mandolin and sings; Jennings plays guitar and sings lead; Glen Inman plays banjo; Mike Cox plays guitar; John Morris holds the bass; and B.J. Cherryholmes and Buddy Emmons contribute additional instrumental work. Old Homestead's Michigan-based operation made it one of the most important labels for preserving traditional bluegrass performances from regional acts during the 1970s through 1990s.
