Lovesick and Sorrow (Rounder Records 0107, 1978) is a studio album from Ted Lundy, Bob Paisley, and the Southern Mountain Boys, the Virginia and Maryland bluegrass ensemble that blended two musical families into one of the more quietly admired traditional acts on the regional festival circuit. Paisley plays guitar and sings lead; Lundy plays banjo and sings; Dan Paisley plays guitar and sings; T.J. Lundy plays mandolin; Jerry Lundy plays fiddle; Bill Graybeal holds the bass; and Bobby Hicks contributes fiddle on selected tracks. Rounder documented the ensemble as part of their ongoing effort to record regional bluegrass practiced in relative obscurity — the Southern Mountain Boys had honed their traditional approach through years of weekend picking and local festival appearances rather than professional touring. The lineup was essentially a family affair: Dan Paisley is Bob's son, and T.J. and Jerry Lundy are Ted's sons.
