Modern Old-Time Sounds for the Bluegrass and Folksong Jamboree, released in 2019 by the Lonesome Ace Stringband, is the Toronto trio's fourth album. Chris Coole on clawhammer banjo and vocals, John Showman on fiddle and vocals, and Max Heineman on upright bass and vocals work an old-time and bluegrass crossover set that pairs Stanley Brothers, Gus Cannon, and Carter Family standards with contemporary writers like Lhasa de Sela and Brennen Leigh. Bluegrass Unlimited called the album "unorthodox enough to be brilliant," and its deliberately archaic Folkways-style title nods to mid-century jamboree LPs. The catalog date of 2020 reflects a data error rather than the actual release year. The record extended the band's run as one of the most distinctive Canadian old-time acts.
