The Country Gentlemen's New Horizon, released on Rebel Records (C 1699) in 1992 and billed as Charlie Waller & The Country Gentlemen, features a lineup that includes Randall Hylton—a celebrated southwestern Virginia singer-songwriter, five-time SPBGMA Songwriter of the Year, and composer of more than 250 songs recorded across the bluegrass world—on mandolin and vocals. Waller plays guitar and sings; Billy Rose, banjo; Jimmy Bowen, bass and mandolin; Gene Wooten, dobro; and Glen Duncan, fiddle. Hylton's presence as a performing member—rather than just a songwriter—gives the record an unusual compositional depth for a late-era Country Gentlemen release. He died in 2001 and was posthumously inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame.
