No Place Better (Patuxent CD 126, 2005) is Jordan Tice’s first solo album. Tice, born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, made it at the age of 16, and Tom Mindte, owner of the Rockville, Maryland, label Patuxent Music, offered him a recording contract.

Tice plays guitar on all eleven tracks. Ron Stewart plays fiddle on most of them and Akira Otsuka mandolin; Mike Munford plays banjo on eight tracks, and Mark Schatz plays bass, except on “Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Wicker Basket,” where he plays banjo. Sue Raines Tice is the fiddler on “Jean’s Reel / The Girls at Martinsfield,” and the title track is a duet for Tice’s guitar and Schatz’s bass. Tice and Mindte are credited as producers.

The titles include “Last Summer,” “Donegal Bay,” “Celia’s Reel,” “Things Left Unsaid,” “Indian Summer” and “Banjo Bit Me in the Morning.”
