Old Country Town, the Lonesome River Band's 1994 Rounder Records release, finds the band at or near the peak of their considerable powers. Songs like 'Long Gone' and 'Highway Paved with Pain' typify the contemporary bluegrass songwriting of the period, combining mountain lyrical sensibility with production values polished enough for mainstream country radio. The album consolidated the band's reputation as one of the genre's most consistent and musically serious acts.
