Over the Sunset Hill cover

Over the Sunset Hill, recorded February 21, 1968 at King Studios in Cincinnati and released by the label that same year, is Ralph Stanley's second LP after Carter Stanley's death in December 1966 — a sacred album subtitled "Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys Sing Sacred Songs." The session lineup included George Shuffler, Larry Sparks, Melvin Goins, and Curly Ray Cline; Shuffler couldn't make the date and overdubbed his bass later. Syd Nathan, King's owner, died only days after the session, and the label was sold to Starday before the year was out — a transitional moment for the Stanley catalog. The album consolidated Ralph's identity as a bandleader in his own right.
