Album · 2001 · Arista Nashville 07863-67008-2

Part II is Brad Paisley’s second studio album, released on Arista Nashville in May 2001 and produced by Frank Rogers. It went platinum in the United States and produced four singles, “Two People Fell in Love,” “Wrapped Around,” “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” which reached number one on Billboard’s country singles chart, and “I Wish You’d Stay.” The main sessions were recorded by Richard Barrow at The Castle in Franklin, Tennessee, with additional recording in Nashville and at Buck Owens Productions in Bakersfield, California.

“You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” was written by Darrell Scott, who plays banjo, dobro and mandolin on Paisley’s recording and sings background vocals with Sonya Isaacs and Wes Hightower. Bill Anderson and Chuck Cannon wrote “Too Country,” and George Jones, Bill Anderson and Buck Owens sing on it. The closing “Old Rugged Cross” was recorded live at the Grand Ole Opry on 16 December 2000, the night Paisley was invited to join the Opry, and opens with an introduction by Eddie Stubbs and Little Jimmy Dickens. The album also has an instrumental, “Munster Rag,” written by Paisley, James Gregory and Mitch McMichen.
