Pickin’ On Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bluegrass Rising was released by CMH Records on 20 June 2025, with “Bad Moon Rising” out as a single a month earlier. The Pickin’ On series had already given Creedence an instrumental treatment, Pickin’ On Creedence Clearwater Revival: A Tribute (1999), reissued with bonus tracks as Born on the Bayou (2001). This is the first Iron Horse recording of the songs to feature vocals and the band’s own arrangements.
The band is Iron Horse, a quartet from Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Tony Robertson on mandolin, Ricky Rogers on bass, Vance Henry on guitar and Anthony Richardson on banjo, all of whom sing. Iron Horse has been the main recording artist for the Pickin’ On series since 2003, which began in 1993 with Pickin’ On the Movies. The twelve tracks are “Bad Moon Rising,” “Up Around the Bend,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Looking Out My Back Door,” “Hey Tonight,” “Traveling Band,” “Lodi,” “Who Will Stop the Rain,” “Down on the Corner,” “Proud Mary,” “Long As I Can See the Light” and “Someday Never Comes.”
