Prime Tyme is a 2011 Rural Rhythm Records album (RUR-1085) by Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. The lineup — Moore (guitar, lead vocals), Wayne Benson (mandolin), Steve Dilling (banjo, vocals), Justen Haynes (fiddle, vocals), and Edgar Loudermilk (bass, vocals) — represents the group during a run that included seven consecutive IBMA Vocal Group of the Year awards beginning in 2007. Loudermilk, a North Carolinian with distant ties to the Louvin Brothers' family line, anchors the bass chair with deep-tone authority and a tenor voice well-suited to the band's stacked harmony style. Prime Tyme documents a period in which IIIrd Tyme Out was widely regarded as the standard-bearer for traditional bluegrass vocal-group performance, maintaining the ensemble's high standard across nearly two decades of operation.
