Run for the Roses cover

Run for the Roses, released by Arista Records on November 1, 1982, is Jerry Garcia's fourth and final solo studio album — recorded at the Grateful Dead's Club Front rehearsal space with John Kahn on bass and synthesizers, Melvin Seals on organ, Ron Tutt on drums, and additional players. The program leans on covers: The Beatles' I Saw Her Standing There, Clyde McPhatter's Without Love, a reggae arrangement of Knockin' on Heaven's Door alongside Garcia–Hunter originals including the title track. Victor Moscoso provided the psychedelic poster-style artwork. The album reached #100 on the US charts and stands as Garcia's last full studio document outside the Grateful Dead before his late-1980s health problems narrowed his recording activity.
