Rural & Cosmic Bluegrass is the 2006 debut album by Spring Creek, a Colorado band, and was issued without a record label. The lineup is Chris Elliott on banjo, Taylor Sims on guitar, Alex Johnstone on mandolin and Jessica Smith on bass. Elliott, Sims and Smith studied at South Plains College in Texas; Johnstone joined after Sims picked him up hitchhiking outside Crested Butte. All four sing and write.

The twelve tracks include “I Wonder Just Where You Are Tonight,” “Waterline Blues,” “Caleb Meyer,” “Clinch Mountain Freak Out,” “Bowling Green,” “Harvest of ’55” and “Memories of Greenbriar.” In 2007 the band became the only group to win the band competitions at both the Telluride and RockyGrass festivals in the same year. A second self-released album, Lonesome Way to Go, followed in March 2008, and in 2008 Spring Creek signed with Rebel Records, which released Way Up on a Mountain on 5 May 2009.
