Session 1 (Mountain Fever MFR 130611) was released on 11 June 2013 and is the first album by Sideline. The band grew out of a few Christmastime shows that IIIrd Tyme Out banjo player Steve Dilling played with friends during the winter slowdown, and out of IBMA showcases that followed. Dilling plays banjo, with Skip Cherryholmes on guitar, Darrell Webb on mandolin, Justen Haynes on fiddle and Jason Moore on bass. The album was tracked at Riverside Audio and produced by the band.
The twelve tracks draw mostly on older material: Jimmy Martin’s “Sophronie,” Marshall Wilborn’s “Goodbye to the Blues,” the country song “What Made Milwaukee Famous,” and “When You’re Lonely,” credited to Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt. Darrell Webb wrote the gospel number “The Way, the Truth, the Light” and sings lead on most of the tracks. A second album, Session 2, followed on 2 June 2015, after Greg Luck and Brian Aldridge had joined Dilling, Cherryholmes and Moore.
