She Waits for Night (Rounder 11661-0565-2) was released in 2005 and was Uncle Earl’s first album for Rounder. The band, formed by KC Groves and Jo Serrapere, was by then the four-woman lineup of Groves, Kristin Andreassen, Abigail Washburn and Rayna Gellert, all of whom sing lead on the record: Washburn on tracks including “Walkin’ in My Sleep,” Groves on “There Is a Time,” Andreassen on “Sugar Babe,” “Pale Moon” and “Ida Red,” and Gellert on “Willie Taylor.” Washburn plays banjo, Gellert fiddle, Groves mandolin and guitar and Andreassen guitar, with Dan Rose on bass. Dirk Powell produced the album and plays accordion on “Sullivan’s Hollow” and banjo on “Divine.”

The fourteen tracks include “Sullivan’s Hollow,” “Booth Shot Lincoln” and “Old Bunch of Keys,” and Andreassen’s feet are credited as percussion on “There Is a Time” and “Old Bunch of Keys.” “Pale Moon” is credited to Andreassen, “Divine” to Washburn, and “Take These Chains” to all four members. On “Sugar Babe” Andreassen sings lead with Washburn on harmony, Groves plays guitar and Christine Balfa adds triangle.
