She Went Upstairs

She Went Upstairs is the first album by Uncle Earl, the old-time group that KC Groves and Jo Serrapere started in 2000. It is a collection of old-time songs released under the Uncle Earl name. It centered on Groves and Serrapere, with a full band behind them. The twelve tracks include “Charlie He’s a Good Ol’ Man,” “The Blackest Crow,” “Orphan Train,” “Rubber Dolly,” “The Fox” and “Freight Train.” The album came out in 2002.

Serrapere left the band in 2003. By the end of that year the lineup that followed was KC Groves on mandolin and guitar, Abigail Washburn on banjo, Rayna Gellert on fiddle and Kristin Andreassen on guitar and fiddle, and the group went on to record for Rounder.
