Jimmy Martin and the Osborne Brothers recorded three singles for RCA Victor between 1954 and 1955, representing one of the more intriguing transitional pairings in early bluegrass history. Martin had spent several formative years as lead vocalist with Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, where he developed the high, hard-driving tenor that would become his trademark. The Osborne Brothers — Bobby on tenor banjo and Sonny on mandolin — were still in their teens when these sessions took place, not yet the headlining act they would become.

The three singles released under this configuration — "Save It! Save It!" / "20/20 Vision" in 1954, "Chalk Up Another One" / "I Pulled a Boo Boo" in early 1955, and "They Didn't Know the Difference (But I Did)" / "That's How I Can Count on You" later that year — placed the group within RCA Victor's country roster at a moment when the label was also home to Eddy Arnold and Hank Snow. The material mixed original numbers with the good-humored, mid-tempo bluegrass fare that characterized much of the genre's early commercial output.

The partnership did not endure as a recording entity. Bobby and Sonny Osborne moved to MGM Records, where they built their own career under the Osborne Brothers name, later pioneering a more electrified, harmonically adventurous style. Martin went on to form his Sunny Mountain Boys and signed with Decca, where he recorded the sides that secured his reputation as one of bluegrass music's most commanding lead vocalists. The RCA Victor singles thus capture a specific and unrepeated moment — two trajectories briefly converging before each pursued its own distinct course.
