Sings Country Gospel Songs is a 1967 album by Hylo Brown and the Timberliners released on Rural Rhythm Records (RRHB 187), recorded in Akron, Ohio, and produced by Lee Sutton. Brown (vocals, guitar)—the Kentucky-born high tenor and one of the most admired voices in traditional bluegrass—leads a lineup of Ross Branham (five-string banjo), Dan Milhon (dobro), Jack Casey (guitar), and Dick Brickles (acoustic bass) through twenty tracks of devotional material. The session is acoustic bluegrass-gospel without drums or electric instruments—bone-dry production placing the harmonies in a direct line from the camp-meeting tradition. Note: Rural Rhythm later reissued this recording under the alternate title 20 Gospel Favorites (Rural Rhythm RC 187, 1997); both catalog numbers represent the identical session and track list.
