Some Things I Want to Sing About, the Osborne Brothers' 1984 Sugar Hill release (SH 3740), marked the brothers' move out of the major-label country production they had favored at Decca-MCA and into the indie-bluegrass world Sugar Hill was building. Recorded at Studio by the Pond in Hendersonville, Tennessee, the album frames Bobby's mandolin and lead and Sonny's banjo with a working ensemble of Blaine Sprouse on fiddle, Paul Brewster on guitar, and Jimmy D. Brock on bass, augmented by Nashville session players. The repertoire — including a deliberate cover of Cash's So Doggone Lonesome — points toward a more acoustic, less polished sound than the radio-era Osbornes, even as the brothers' signature high-trio harmony remains intact.
