Songbird: Rare Tracks and Forgotten Gems, released in 2007 on Rhino (R2 74744), is Emmylou Harris's hand-curated four-CD-plus-DVD career retrospective. Harris assembled the seventy-eight-track set as "personal favorites, not greatest hits," surfacing thirteen previously unreleased recordings spanning 1969 to 2006. Collaborators across the box include Gram Parsons, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Mark Knopfler, and Elvis Costello. Discs one and two function as a solo retrospective; discs three and four collect duets, tributes, and unreleased material. The set sits in the bluegrass catalog largely through Harris's long bluegrass-adjacent affiliations — Ricky Skaggs in her Hot Band, the Trio records with Parton and Ronstadt, and her Roses in the Snow detour into pure bluegrass.
