Souvenirs is Dan Fogelberg's second album, released on Full Moon/Epic in October 1974 and produced by Joe Walsh, who had taken an interest in the Illinois songwriter after a quiet debut on Columbia. Walsh plays guitar across most of the record and brought in a Los Angeles session crew — Russ Kunkel on drums, Bryan Garofalo on bass, Paul Harris on piano, Al Perkins on banjo and steel — with Graham Nash, Don Henley and Glenn Frey among the harmony singers. "Part of the Plan" was the single and Fogelberg's first chart hit; the album reached the top twenty and was eventually certified double platinum, the record that made his career. Every song is his own. Alongside the ballads that did the radio work, "Morning Sky" is one of the shorter, more acoustic tracks, with Perkins's banjo giving it the string-band lean that later drew bluegrass bands to it.
