The Del McCoury Band’s The Company We Keep was released in 2005 on McCoury Music (MCM 0002); Discogs also credits Sugar Hill Records. It won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album at the 48th Grammy Awards on 8 February 2006. Del McCoury and his son Ronnie produced it, and it was recorded at Skaggs Place Studios, with Neal Cappellino as recording and mixing engineer.
The band is Del McCoury on guitar and lead vocals, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin, Rob McCoury on banjo, Jason Carter on fiddle and Mike Bub on bass. Bub, who had joined in May 1992, left in June 2005 and was replaced by Alan Bartram, so this was his last album with the band. The fourteen songs include “Nothin’ Special,” “Never Grow Up Boy,” “She Can’t Burn Me Now,” “Mountain Song,” “Fathers and Sons” and “Blown Away and Gone.”
