“Mountain Song” was written by Larry Keel, a progressive bluegrass guitarist and songwriter from southwest Virginia. Keel’s songs have been recorded by a range of acts, and one of them appeared on a Grammy-winning Del McCoury album.
As the title suggests, the song is rooted in the mountains. It celebrates the hill country and the life lived there, in the loose, free-spirited style that marks Keel’s writing.
The song was taken up by the band Sideline.
