Larry Keel
Larry Keel is a Virginia-based flatpicking guitarist, songwriter, and bandleader in the post-Tony Rice acoustic-bluegrass tradition. He fronts the Larry Keel Experience and has shared stages with Del McCoury, Vassar Clements, Bill Monroe, and Sam Bush.
- Born Larry Dwayne Keel on November 25, 1968, in Manassas, Virginia.
- Began touring nationally in the late 1990s with the McLain Family Band, Magraw Gap, and his own Larry Keel and Natural Bridge.
- Now fronts the Larry Keel Experience with wife Jenny Keel and Will Lee.
- Writes much of his own material, including “Mountain Song” and “Bigfoot.”
- Has performed with Del McCoury, Vassar Clements, Bill Monroe, Sam Bush, the String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Keller Williams.
