The Heart's Swift Foot (Earthwork Music EW8503, 2013) is the third full-length album from Michigan-based old-time and Americana duo Red Tail Ring — Laurel Premo (fiddle, banjo, dobro) and Michael Beauchamp (guitar, mandolin, banjo). Recorded at La Luna Studios in Kalamazoo, the album was designed to capture the intimacy of their live sound. Ten of its twelve tracks are Beauchamp–Premo originals; two traditional numbers — "St. James Infirmary" and Hazel Dickens's "My Heart's Own Love" — are included as tributes to the recently deceased Doc Watson and Dickens. The record received strong praise in Americana and folk circles for its emotional directness, instrumental range, and the duo's ability to sustain full-sounding arrangements with only two players.
