The Mountain cover

Steve Earle and The Del McCoury Band's The Mountain, released on E-Squared (1064-2) in February 1999, grew from the single bluegrass collaboration on El Corazón into a full album written by Earle and performed entirely by the McCoury Band. Earle plays guitar and sings; Del McCoury, guitar and vocals; Ronnie McCoury, mandolin; Rob McCoury, banjo; Jason Carter, fiddle; and Mike Bub, upright bass. Produced by Ronnie McCoury and The Twangtrust, the record was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album and received widespread critical acclaim as Earle's most committed acoustic statement—an Americana songwriter channeling the most tradition-rooted picking band in bluegrass for a program of all-original material.
