The Secret Sisters (Beladroit Records, 2010) is the debut album from Alabama siblings Laura Rogers and Lydia Rogers, produced by Dave Cobb with T Bone Burnett as executive producer. Recorded on analog tape at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, the album evokes 1950s country production with deliberate fidelity — sparse arrangements, warm reverb, and singing that draws on the Everly Brothers and the Louvin Brothers rather than any contemporary frame of reference. Burnett was so taken with the Rogers sisters' demo that he created the Beladroit imprint specifically to release this record. Session contributors listed in the catalog include Junior Brown and Paul Kennerley. The debut launched the sisters into immediate critical recognition as among the most gifted vocal acts to emerge in the Americana world that year, with their close-harmony singing establishing a sound that belonged to no single decade.
