The Secret Sisters is the first album by Laura and Lydia Rogers, sisters from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, released on 12 October 2010 by Beladroit and Universal Republic. Dave Cobb produced it, with T Bone Burnett as executive producer. It was recorded in two weeks at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, on analog equipment with vintage microphones and tape, as it would have been done in the 1950s. The session players included Hargus “Pig” Robbins on piano and Robby Turner on pedal steel.
Most of the eleven songs are covers: Bill Monroe’s “The One I Love Is Gone,” Buck Owens’s “My Heart Skips a Beat,” George Jones and Darrell Edwards’s “Why Baby Why,” and two Hank Williams songs, “Why Don’t You Love Me” and “House of Gold.” The set also takes in Carson Parks’s “Somethin’ Stupid,” the Frank Sinatra song, “I’ve Got a Feeling,” first sung by the teenage Nancy Baron, and two traditional songs, “Do You Love an Apple” and “All About You.” The sisters wrote “Tennessee Me” and “Waste the Day” themselves.
The album reached number 27 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. In Britain, where Decca handled it, it entered the albums chart in March 2011 and peaked at number 29.
