Time (The Revelator) is the 2001 Acony Records studio album by Gillian Welch, produced by Dave Rawlings and recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville. Welch and Rawlings performed and recorded as a duo with no additional musicians on the studio tracks, relying on vintage equipment and minimal production to achieve the album's raw, timeless quality. Standout tracks include the fourteen-minute closing piece "I Dream A Highway," the meditative "Elvis Presley Blues," and "Everything Is Free" — a pointed response to the Napster-era devaluation of recorded music. One track was captured live at the Ryman Auditorium for the Down from the Mountain concert film. Widely regarded as a modern masterpiece of American roots music, the album secured Welch's reputation as one of the era's most original songwriters.
