Townes Van Zandt cover

Townes Van Zandt is a 1969 album released on Poppy Records (PYS-40,007), his third studio recording in two years. Produced by Jack Clement and recorded at Bradley's Barn in Mount Juliet, Tennessee with Nashville session musicians, the set again employed the orchestral embellishments—organ, harpsichord, strings—that Clement would later acknowledge as working against Van Zandt's austere writing. The album contains early recordings of "Waitin' Around to Die," "Tecumseh Valley," and "Lungs," songs central to his legacy. Like his first two albums, the self-titled record attracted little commercial attention on release but grew steadily in critical standing as Van Zandt's reputation was reassessed across subsequent decades.
