Tracks and Trains (self-released via CD Baby, 2019) is a six-song EP from Lou Reid, one of traditional bluegrass's most recognized high tenors. Born Louis Reid Pyrtle in 1954 in Moore Springs, North Carolina, Reid co-founded Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver in 1979, later served as lead singer of the Seldom Scene, and in 1992 formed Carolina, winning IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year in 1994. The EP, released December 25, 2019, covers traditional and original material including "Little Maggie," "The Guitar Man," and the title track, showcasing Reid's signature high tenor in spare acoustic settings. Issued without a major-label catalog number, it represents an independent creative statement by an artist whose career spans more than four decades at the center of acoustic bluegrass.
